Abstarct: In the gas industry and in all gas pipelines, there are usually certain particulates and contaminants that include tungsten particles, sediments, gas condensates and fine particulate matter which, for two main reasons, should be eliminated from the gas entering the station and, ultimately, the gas consumed: 1- To prevent damage to the instrumentation devices of the station such as regulator knife and etal, 2- Providing gas standards for delivery to the consumer. In other industries, including nuclear industry, cement and etal, gases and particulate pollutants are released in the air, which pollute the environment very harmful. For this reason, the production of a suitable media for use in filters is mandatory. The purpose of this study is to fabrication a media with good efficiency for use in gas industry filters that have the same physical and mechanical properties as the filters used in the gas industry.
Cellulose, glass and polypropylene fibers and phenolic resin were used to make the media. By examining the gas passing test, it showed the superiority of the cellulosic sample compared to other fibers. According to the results of this experiment, the most common specimens were examined for wetting, aerosol, tear test and microstructural analysis.
In the wettability test, all samples were hydrophilic and drops were rapidly absorbed. In an aerosol test, the cellulose sample yield was estimated at 100% for 5 microns, which was still better than other fibers. In tear test results, better results were obtained for cellulose samples. For porosity checking, scanning microscope analysis was used. According to the images, the cellulose porosity was higher than the other two samples, because the phenolic resin cellulose sample was not used and also increased The temperature of the cellulose fiber was not melted and also the porosity was about 15 microns for cellulose and about 9 microns for two other fibers. Due to all the experiments conducted, the cellulose sample has a good result and can be used as a media in the filters.
