Abstarct: In this research, nine types of building rocks of Iran have been studied. The main objective is to find the relations between physical, mechanical properties and saw ability of rocks. For this, at first the properties such as compressive strength, tensile strength, density, porosity, Los Angeles abrasion loss and Schmidt hammer value have been measured and on the other hand cutting properties of the machines has been recorded. Finally the relations between each of these parameters and saw ability of each rock have been estimated. Also to study on the percent of elements available in rocks and finding the relations between them specially the silica available in rock and saw ability, the chemical analysis has been performed. For this purpose, the single regression and to reach bigger correlation coefficient the multiple regressions have been used. To decrease the parameters in multiple regressions, the relation between the parameters has been studied. If there is good relation between two parameters, just one of them will be used in regression. In this study, no good relation has been observed and all parameters have been used except the parameters which their correlation coefficient with cutting rate is less than 0.5. The biggest correlation coefficient is for multiple regressions with 5 parameters, which is 0.91. Finally with respect to analysis and graphs, it is possible to estimate the saw ability of rocks, so you could use the results to design the factory and to find the optimum cutting rate. Also it is usable in predicting and reducing the cost.
