Abstarct: In the northern regions of the Iran due to high rainfall and steep slopes in the north Alborz, there are a large number of young and steep rivers which transmit the runoff caused by rainfalls to the northern plains. In such areas, in order to avoid wasting the runoff, which has high quality, numerous artificial recharge networks have been built. One of these artificial recharge networks is that one which is built on the Jafa-Kandeh river in the south of Bandar Gaz in Golestan province. Jafa-Kandeh artificial recharge network started operations in 1381 and has been operational in 1383. This projet includes a pool for collecting sediments and a artificial pond with a usable area of 5.9 hectares hence, the capacity of 500 thousand cubic meters and 550 meters wall is constructed. Using the value of precipitation in different return periods, the volume of flood is calculated for different return periods. Such that, the flood volume varies from 2.6 to 3.8 million cubic meters for 2 and 100 years return periods, respectivety. According to the isopotential map, it can be argued that the Jafa-Kandeh artificial recharge of groundwater in downstream shows significant effect on groundwater level. Such that the lines of isopotential deflect towards lower potential linas. The quality of entering water into artificial recharge network of Jafa-Kandeh is very good. The average electrical conductivity of the incoming water to artificial recharge network about 330 µS/cm. The obtained results of this study indicate that the groundwater quality in the area downstream of the project is better than that in the adjacent areas. In this way, the electrical conductivity and ion concentration in the downstream location of the project is significantly lower compared to neighboring regions.
