Abstarct: In today’s life, the role of the materials constituting the earth crust especially minerals are effective on human life. This role is sometimes constructive and positive and provides an advance; for example, the use of minerals in manufacturing equipments is needed by human. However, this role can sometimes be negative, vulnerable, pathogenic, and anti-environment. In order to investigate the environmental problems caused by the existence of minerals and mining, different methods such as geophysical and geochemical methods can be used. In this research, aeromagnetic and ground radiometric geophysical methods have been used for identifying the regions with high risk of cancer in Ramsar-Eshkevarat in Roodsar area. In order to achieve this goal, first aeromagnetic data was used for detecting and separating intrusive rock units from other rock units of the region. After processing the data and developing anomaly maps, regarding the fact that the major part of igneous rocks are more magnetic than sedimentary rocks, the strong and weak magnetic regions were separated and identified by using the available geological information. Then, the coordinates of the regions with high concentration of cancer were marked on the maps, and two regions were selected for ground radiometry for investigation of the role of minerals in occurrence of this disease. Ground radiometry data was measured by scintillometer and spectrometer. The results of data processing were used for developing radiometry (radium, thorium, and potassium) anomaly maps.
The results of studies revealed that the regions with concentration of diseases have been corresponding to the areas with low magnetic anomaly and the areas with high magnetic anomaly. In Eshkevarat region, it seems that the major part of magnetic anomaly is caused by the existence of radioactive materials in the coals of Sazand-Shemshak. Also, it should be mentioned that in some regions, concentration of diseases is related to intrusive rocks and their constituents. So, more investigations should be done in these regions.
