Abstarct: Drilling operation is one of the most expensive oil upstream industries activities, that have a special place in this industry.in addition to the parameters such as time lost and time associated with replacement, also the penetration rate consider as an essential factor in the efficiency of drilling rig. Prediction of penetration rate in the oil industry from the perspective of more accurate assessment of drilling time and control of operation costs as result, is very important in this study, to verify the parameters affecting the drilling speed, first the scientific articles and papers were studied and the most important technical parameters were divided to two controllable factors (operational) and incontrollable factors(environmental). Obtaining the model can achieve the relation between this parameters and penetration rate always has been specially important .however, mathematical model presented in this regard, mostly emphasis on controllable and operational parameters. thus, regard to the importance of geo mechanic parameters in the drilling, in this study tried to examine the impact of environmental parameters on drilling penetration rate. these parameters that estimated with well logging and were reported in the one dimension geo mechanic model that constructed for the respective well. After formation of databaxses affecting the penetration rate for making model, two methods of multivariate regression method (subsets of statistical method) and the neural network (subsets of artificial intelligence) due to the high performance in the modeling and recognition pattern in the data are used. According to the results of neural network that 0/87 correlation between amount of observations and prediction against about 0/7 correlations in multivariate regression analysis were showed, we can see the high ability of neural network in making models. It is to be mentioned that this model used in one of the wells of Azadegan oil field, have a basic role for improving the planning of drilling wells in the region.
