Abstarct: Heap leaching is one of the common methods for extracting valuable mextals from oxidized minerals. Hemimorphite, an oxidized mineral is dominating of lead and zinc Mahdi Abad ore that must be extracted by hydromextallurgical. In this thesis, the processing feasibility of this mineral with heap leaching is investigated. After sampling from the ore body, the nine taguchi experimental design was applied for investigating four factors inclusive grain size, acid concentration, acid rate of flow and the number of cycles. The results showed that utilizing the optimized levels as grain size(+1, -20) mm, acid rate of flow, acid rate of flow 10 ml/min, acid concentration 50 gr/ liter and the number of cycles 10 the maximum zinc recovery(62.24%) is achieved. The validation tests results also showed the maximum recovery of zinc was 70.42%. At last, this study showed that the heap leaching is a proper method for extracting lead and zinc oxidized mineral of Mahdi Abad ore deposit.
