TN224 : Modeling and Optimizing Cutt-off Grades in Gol-e-Gohar Iron Ore Mine-Mine NO. 1

Abstarct: Determination of optimum cut off grade during the mine life, is one of the important and fundamental issues in economy and design of mine. In the recent decades maximizing net present value in this problem is taken into consideration. According to economic importance of this parameter and its dynamic nature, the aim of present study has been calculated optimum cut off grades in mine No.1 of Gol-e-Gohar iron ore mine for recent 5-years mining plan's pushback. In most comprehensive theory on this field that presented by lane, one saleable product has been considered. Hence and according to this mine has 3 salable products (grading product, concentrate and pellet), optimization model baxsed on the operation of the mine has been developed. Then by determination of objective function, Golden Section Search method and Imperialist Competitive Algorithm have been used to solve it. For this purpose, software developed in MATLAB R2011a. baxsed on the results, the net present value has been obtained by Golden section Search method equal to 18486.84 billion rial and by Imperialist Competitive Algorithm equal to 18142.49 billion rial. To solving the problem number of iterations in Golden Section Search method for each year was equal 18 and in Imperialist Competitive Algorithm was less than 18.In addition, computing and programming process of Golden Section Search method was easier than Imperialist Competitive algorithm. So in general, the Golden Section Search method on this study has a higher priority. Finally by using results of this optimizing operation, production scheduling has been done for 5-years mining plan. Also by considering Stockpiling low grade ore,can feeding concentrate plant in maximum capacity for 1 year addition to primary plan.
