Abstarct: In this thesis, supervisory impedance control for active suspension system is presented that provides desired dynamic behavior against road bumps when the vehicle passes over the bump. A quarter-car model with hydraulic actuator is used for active suspension in control system. The proposed impedance control law is simple, free of model and can be applied for a broad range of road conditions. Supervisory impedance control is designed for active suspension system with the aim of achieving passenger comfort and vehicle handling. Supervisory control consists of two loops, the inner loop which controls the impedance, and the outer loop is designed to fulfil control requirements. Comparison of supervisory impedance control method with impedance control method shows the control system performance in terms of passenger comfort and vehicle handling is improved.
