Abstarct: Among various types of linear motors, the linear induction motor has been more attractioned due to its many advantages such as low cost construction and simple structure. Linear induction motors are devided into three categories i.e. single sided, double sided and tubular motors. In this thesis, by using a double sided linear induction motor design algorithm and doing changes in the secondary conductor plate structure, including material variation and secondary thickness which will change the motor’s secondary resistance, the performance characteristics of the motor in particular the force characteristic versus speed for application in accelerator are investigated. Then, by using different simulations, the optimum thickness is obtained which allows the motor to reach the optimum speed at the lowest possible time.
