Abstarct: This thesis proceed on introducing, modeling, and control of three phase six-switch PWM buck rectifier, and propose a new input and output filter design method. The proposed filter design method is baxsed on mathematical equations describing the circuit for sinusoidal, vector, and SHE modulations. Optimum design of input filter (inductor, capacitor and active damping) is baxsed on the input current THD minimization and power factor maximization. The unknown values of input filter inductor and capacitor in mathematical equations, are determined by multi objectives evolutionary algorithms, due to the contrast between power factor and input current THD. The output inductor is designed so that the output current ripple is minimized and the converter can operate in continuous current mode. In order to control the converter, state space equations have been transferred into the dq0 frxame therefore, the AC and DC models are determined. baxsed on this model, a control strategy composed of a state variable feedback control method for the DC side and an active-damping control method for the AC side is used. To test the proposed design method in real condition, an experimental setup of three phase six-switch PWM buck rectifier has been established with its additional requirements. In this thesis, the setup has been introduced and implementation procedure has been presented. Simulation and experimental results are presented to prove the superiority of the proposed design methodology over other methods.
