Abstarct: In this thesis, the buckling of orthotropic rectangular plates with eccentric hole is investigated. The finite plate has a cutout with different eccentric shapes such as circular, elliptical and rectangular cutouts. Also, the effect of important parameters such as cutout orientation, bluntness parameter and the aspect ratio of the plate on the buckling load is studied. For this purpose, finite element approach baxsed on the energy method is employed. A linear strain-displacement relationship is used to calculate the strain energy and to obtain the stiffness matrix. In the finite element model, an eight-node rectangular element is considered. For plate with different cutouts, the buckling load is calculated for various boundary conditions such as simple- clamped- simple-clamped (SCSC), SSSS and CCCC at the edges of the plate. In order to evaluate the program written in MATLAB, the obtained results are compared with the numerical results from commercial software ABAQUS as well as the results of other references. The results of this study show that these parameters have a significant effect on the buckling load of orthotropic plates.
