TJ368 : study and performance improvement of solar assisted heat pump drying

Abstarct: In last decades, the use of various dryer system in the field of food industries, biologic and pharmaceutical has increased. The utilization of cycles with capability of energy recovering for maintaining high quality of products and usage of renewable energy can be a useful achievement in drying technology. Pure solar energy which do not produce harmful pollutants is a new technology. In recent study, heat-pomp dryer with the accommodation of solar energy in direct model of evaporator- collector was evaluated. Effective parameters in cycle output are consist of: coefficient of performance and the specific moisture evaporation rate. In addition, the influence of different factors including condenser temperature,relative humidity of ambient air, compressor volumetric displacement rate and temperature of evaporator on these functions were studied. For calculation of absorbed radiation in collector, the existing average data in other sources have used and with the help of existing relations, these values for average of one day and particular hours in a day have been obtained. The collector slope angels have chosen small in middle months of the year and large in winter months in order to that collector be able to absorb more amount of solar energy to optimize the absorption cycle. As an example, in 50⁰ condenser temperature, in Tehran and in January, by increase of slope angel from 10 to 40, the coefficient of performance will increase from 4 to 4.5. The application of this cycle in low temperature will result increase in operation factor and life time of applied fluid. The amount of coefficient of performance has direct relation with absorb radiation of collector. As instant, by compressor volume displacement rate of 0.005, average radiation, coefficient of performance in Tehran in January, by decrease of condenser temperature from 60⁰ to 30⁰, will increase from 5 to 8. Annual analysis of coefficient of performance has been studied in this research. Operation factor in slope angel of 10 and condenser temperature of 40⁰ will increase from 5 in January to 7 in August. In addition, the efficiency of collector in various different time, place and temperature condition will vary. The final functions have been studied for Birjand, Shiraz and Tehran..
