Crossing the red and yellow lights is one of the most common and important types of violations and causes of urban accidents at intersections with lights, and in that the vehicles and the safety of the driver and other passengers are at risk. This study has two objectives: 1- Investigating the effect of the theory of planned behavior on the intention and motivation of drivers to cross a yellow/red light and the application of this theory on the behavior of drivers to cross a yellow/red light 2- Investigating the difference between the behavior and the intention of drivers to cross of yellow/red light and the effect of meter type on drivers' behavior of passing through yellow/red light. Therefore, 4 types of counters including hourglass, second counter, without counter and ruler were considered. To investigate the behavior of passing the yellow light, 100 people were interviewed at each meter and a total of 400 questionnaires were collected (the total number of questionnaires was 680). The data was collected during a period of 4 months (October to December 1401). The questionnaire consisted of two main parts, the first part of which dealt with questions related to the characteristics of drivers, and the second part was designed baxsed on the theory of planned behavior, which includes parts such as intention, attitudes, mental norms, and perceived behavioral control, and a series of Other additional factors were formed. The results show that drivers who use seat belts, have more age and education, and are married, obey more when crossing yellow and red lights. The results of the present research can be useful in designing appropriate interventions and policies in order to increase compliance with the rules of passing through intersections with lights and play a significant role in reducing the accidents of passing through yellow/red lights. Finally, baxsed on the findings of the research, some preventive measures and necessary suggestions have been presented in order to reduce the risk of traffic light accidents.
