Abstarct: Monitoring process means the evaluation of the performance of the structure, during construction and operation and its adaptation to projected design time. earth structures monitoring is crucial due to the possibility of occurrence of phenomena such as slippage of slopes, cracking or hydraulic fracturing and scouring of fine aggregates, etc. Performing the process of controlling the safety and stability of the fuselage of an earth dam and its foundation is usually carried out by examining the information in the technical archive, the results of instrumentation readings, field inspection, and numerical analysis.
In this research, the dam Gelvard Neka, which is a concrete face rockfill dam, is under construction monitored. Hence, with the help of reading the precision instrumentation in the dam body and performing a back analysis, FLAC's advanced software has tried to identify the precise specifications of the materials used in the construction of the dam and to predict the future behavior of the dam.
Gelvard dam is located on Nekarod River and in the drainage basin of Mazandaran Lake (longitude 53 degrees, 36 minutes east and latitude 36 degrees and 35 minutes north). Gelvard dam located on the upstream side of the village Gelvard in the mountainous region of the Hezarjarib district. The dam located 35 km south of Behshahr county, 70 km from the county of Sari and 45 km south-east of Neka county. The area of the drainage basin up to the dam is 1480 square kilometers, and the mean annual rainfall is 940 mm in the site of the dam.
The results of this study show that the dam settlement is about 5%, the horizontal displacement is about 7% and total vertical stress and pore water pressure are about 10% different with the results of the instrumentation during the construction period, which indicates that the results of the analysis are in good agreement with the instrumentation. On the other hand, in the Gelvard dam, the maximum settlement occurs in the middle of a third of the top of the dam.
