Abstarct: This study is about sediment transport in shallow reservoir. Our purpose of reservoir is sediment basin. Sediment basins have built to capture and eliminate suspended sediment load in entrance flows to hydraulic structures. The main purpose of this study is understanding flow patterns and how distribute sediments in sediment basins. this study have two part: Numerical modeling of clear flow and Numerical modeling of flow with suspended sediment load.
The govern equations are hydrodynamic model and sediment transport model. Hydrodynamic model included continuity equation and momentum equations, that use for calculate the parameters of flow. In this study we use Ansys Flunet (13.1) to model clear flow. Sediment transport model included advection-diffusion equation and Exner equation. Hydraulic parameters such as velocity and parameters of two-dimensional model use in sediment transport model.
Since in this study we use finite volume method, discretization the equations and determine the parameters of this method. We use Fortran code for numerical modeling of sediment transport. The results are suspended sediment concentration and thickness of bed load laxyer in each points. The result of numerical modeling are compare with results of an experimental study and the other results can get from it .
