Abstarct: Steel shear wall system, well-known as a resistant and stable against lateral loads, has received attention increasingly in three recent decades. This system has been used in constructing and strengthening prominent buildings of the world, especially in seismic countries such as America and Japan. Theoretical and experimental studies indicate the suitable behavior of this system toward the heavy lateral loads. In addition, the buildings, in which this system has been employed, displayed a desirable reaction against strong earthquakes such as Northridge and kube.
In this study, different kinds of steel shear walls were created and analyzed by using ABAQUS software which included non-linear geometric and materialistic. Additionally, having applied two reliable experimental models, the correctness of modeling done by using ABAQUS software was prove, the experiment from which valuable results were gained.
Finally, this study investigates the impact of stiffeners on the behavior of steel shear walls and the influential parameters including the effect of stiffeners decoration on loading capacity and energy absorption and dissipation, the effect of walls and stiffeners thickness, stiffeners width, and the effect of pillars and poles hardness on the eventual behavior and resistance of shear wall. The walls stiffened by element of shell were modelled in ABAQUS. In this research, the appropriateness of modelling by the use of the element of shell has been verified by applying the results of the studies done by Saboori and Sajadi (2009) and Takahashi, et al.
