Abstarct: Today, foliar application of salicylic acid and amino acids on plants can reduce adverse effects of herbicides via improving growth and competitive ability of plant with weeds. Therefore, in order to investigate the effect of foliar application of salicylic acid and amino acids on the growth and yield of maize in the presence of cruise herbicide (nicosulfuron 4% SC), a factorial experiment was conducted as randomized complete block design with three replications at the research field of Shahrood University of Technology in 2018. Experimental factors were including nicosulfuron in three levels of zero, one and two liters per hectare, the second factor were amino acid in three levels: zero, 300 and 600 ppm per hectare. The third factor was salicylic acid at two levels of zero and 0.7 mM. The results showed that spraying of amino acid (300 ppm) increased chlorophyll a and 100 seeds weight by 36.19% and 13.76% respectively. Application of salicylic acid increased 100 seeds weight, spad number and chlorophyll a by 8.15%, 10.49% and 18.26% respectively. Application of amino acid in low doses of herbicide had a positive effect on chlorophyll b pigment. Interaction effects of amino acids and salicylic acid significantly increased carotenoid pigment and plasma membrane stability. Foliar application of salicylic acid and amino acids in the absence of herbicide increased catalase activity. Under reduced dose of herbicide and the presence of weeds, the use of salicylic acid and amino acids reduced malondialdehyde. Reducing the dose of herbicide in combination with the use of amino acids and salicylic acid showed a similar effect to the full dose of herbicide in increasing traits such as leaf area index, height and stem diameter of corn. The results showed that the weed density reduced 73 and 70% by using recommended and reduced doses of herbicide respectively. Weed dry biomass decreased significantly by combination use of salicylic acid and herbicides. The results showed that the application of salicylic acid and amino acids in the absence of herbicide caused a significant increase in grain yield compared to the control. Also, in the condition of application of herbicide (reduced or recommended dose), the use of amino acids alone or in combination with salicylic acid caused a significant increase in yield in most of treatments compared to the control. In general, the results showed that the application of amino acids and salicylic acid by increasing the activity of some antioxidant enzymes and also increasing the height and leaf area, increased photosynthesis and growth of corn. baxsed on the results of this experiment, application of recommended or reduced doses of herbicide in combination with amino acids and salicylic acid while improving the yield of corn as an integrate method can be an important step towards reducing the use of nicosulforn herbicide.
