S282 : Effect of Spent mushroom compost and vermicompost with nitrogen fertilizer on some charactristics and yield of Zea mays

Abstarct: An experimental field was conducted during 2014, at Agriculture Research Station, Varamin, Tehran, Iran. This study performed baxsed on complete randomized block design with three replication. The factor were spent mushroom compost (SMC) in the three level (0, 1, 2.5 ton/ha), vermicompost in two level (0, 3.5 ton/ha) and nitrogen in two level (0, 150 kg/ha). The result showed that use of SMC has significant effect on all traits except soil organic carbon, respiration and soil acidity. In most cases, between the use of 1ton and 2.5 ton/ha SMC was not a significant difference. Application of vermicompost increased height, grain in row number, grain weight, row number, ear length, biological yield, soil nitrogen, mycorrhiza colonization percent, seed nitrogen and protein percent. Application of nitrogen has significant effect on height, number of ears, ear length, grain weight, grain yeild, mycorrhizal colonization percent, seed nitrogen and protein percent, soil nitrogen and respiration. At the time of application SMC and vermicompost increased height, organic carbon, number row and biological yield. The interaction of SMC and nitrogen has significant effect on number of ear, ear length, seed nitrogen and protein percent, mycorrhizal colonization percent and grain yield. Also interaction of vermicompost and nitogen has significat effect on height, soil nitrogen. Application of triple SMC, vermicompost and nitrogen increased height, grain weight, total soil nitrogen,biological yield and seed protein and nitrogenpercent. Use the spent mushroom compost, vermicompost and nitrogen increased growth index compared to control. In the meantime 1 ton/ha SMC had greater impact on growth index. In general, it seems that the management of nitrogen fertilizer combined with organic fertilizer, in addition to producing desirable yield of mazie and improve soil charactristic could be economy nitrogen fertilizer application.
