Abstarct: In recent years, large floods have occurred in the Gorganrud catchment area. One of these floods is the flood of late March 2017 and early April 2018. This flood caused flooding in the city of Aqqala for about a month and caused a lot of damage to the residential houses and infrastructures of the city. The main cause of the said flood was the occurrence of a heavy rain in the Gorganrood catchment basin. In this way, in most stations of the region, in addition to heavy rainfall, the intensity of rainfall was also very high. In this way, in most of the stations in the region, the amount of precipitation was more than 150 mm in the three days before the flood. For example, about 360 mm of rain was recorded in Toskachal stations in Minodasht, 329 mm in Minodasht and 305 mm in Farsian Farang. In this way, this amount of rainfall in three days was much higher than the long-term average rainfall in March. According to the evaluations, the most important factors affecting the flooding of the city of Aqqala in the flood of early 2018, the occurrence of a huge flood in the catchment area of Gorganrood, the encroachment on the river course and the reduction of the river's capacity, the failure to consider the flood capacity of Sedhai Lake There is the change of use of forests to agricultural lands and the unprincipled development of the city of Aqqala. Among the most important consequences of the flooding of Aqqala city and nearby villages, we can mention the loss of life, economic damage to various sectors, and health issues related to the health of the community.
