QD193 : multicomponent synthesis of dihydropyrimidines in the presence of surfactants

Abstarct: 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones are important compounds which show a wide range of biological activities such as, antivirals, antitumour, antihypertensive. 3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones were synthesized in moderate to high yields in one-pot three component reaction from the corresponding aldehydes, ketones or 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and urea, in the presence of SDS (5 mol%) and CTAB (5 mol%), under solvent-free conditions at 120˚C.
