Abstarct: The aim of this thesis is growth and study of cobalt nanowires. Among the various methods of growth, the electrodeposition method due to the ease in growth and it’s inexpensivity has attracted more attention. Frist the aluminum oxide template with a very high density of holes was made to accumulate and control the nanowires growth direction. The multiple anodization of alumina template by means of acid solution is applied to make the porous template. Several factors are involved to produce porous template that we can increase the density of porosity and decrease of the diameter of them by optimization the porous process.
The electrochemical galvanostatic technique was used to deposite nanowires. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) were used to studies of structure and morphology of the nanowires. The results showed that the nanopores in template have uniform shape and density with diameter of about 43nm. The studies of deposited samples are indicated that the cobalt nanowires are grown in the direction of perpendicular to the surface of template. Structural Study showed that preferred orientation of nanowires is (002) with hexagonal crystal structure.
Study of the magnetic properties of the nanowires was done by vibrating sample magnetometer. Investigation of magnetic properties of nanowires showed that the saturation magnetization and residual magnetized are lower when the magnetic field is parallel to the nanowires compared to tje perpendicular mode.
