PE81 : EFL Teachers’ Experience of Online Summative Assessment: A Sequential Exploratory Study.

Abstarct: Assessment as a vital part of education is complex and projects more issues, especially online platforms. To properly support students, teachers must have a proper understanding of assessment modes. Although formative and summative offer distinct but complementary methods for evaluating and enhancing student learning, this study aims to present the teachers' experience of summative assessment. This grounded theory study used 9 EFL teachers' experience of their summative assessment utilization. The result showed three head categories: teacher perspectives, challenges, and positive features. Accordingly, controlling test fairness and promoting teacher engagement were the most challenging issues. Finally, implications for teachers and the educational system are also provided.
