Abstarct: The given study will discuss how the game called Simon Says can be applied in the process of teaching vocabulary to the first-grade students in the Iraqi primary school given its effectiveness as an interactive learning technique. Despite the fact that vocabulary process has been described as fundamental in the primary study of language, the conventional teaching applied in the classrooms in Iraq is usually rote-baxsed and, therefore, does not enable the students to become very active and memorable. The research will be oriented at identifying whether it is possible to make the learning process more fun and efficient by introducing the game of Simon Says into the process and, consequently, increase the level of comprehending and using it in the group of pupils. The quasi-experimental design will be applied and there will be two groups of 1 st grade students; one of them experimental and the other one being control group, whereby, one will be taught using the game of Simon Says and that group will be the experimental and the other group will be the control group, the other group will be taught using the conventional learning methods. Improvement in vocabulary will be assessed by pre-testing and post-testing, motivation and engagement of learners will be assessed through checklists. The findings would provide data on the pedagogical nature of game-baxsed learning in early stages of education and will also have practical implications on a curriculum of English language teaching in Iraq primary schools. The research can contribute to the improvement of the curriculum and the interaction of teachers and their students becoming more interactive and student oriented.
