Abstarct: Today, due to the increase in population and human needs and consequently energy consumption, the phenomenon of energy crisis has occurred in the world. The global problem of the energy crisis, the problems caused by the exhaustion of fossil fuels and the harmful environmental effects of these fuels, have forced scientific societies to use alternative energy sources. In order to get out of this crisis, various solutions are offered, and sustainability in the architectural design of buildings is one of the best solutions. In this research, an attempt has been made to design a sustainable ecotourism residence, and this design is baxsed on traditional house architecture in hot and dry areas (Damghan city). In order to obtain and identify sustainability patterns after library studies, field analysis and analysis of architectural maps of four traditional residential buildings in Damghan has been done, and in the next steps, comparing the studied samples with each other, measuring spaces and analyzing And the proportions of the spaces compared to the yard were examined Investigations show that the characteristics of sustainable architecture in residential buildings in traditional houses of Damghan city are related to the effect of climate on the form, selection of materials and orientation, etc. of the building. The results of the research showed that in climate design in Damghan, it is better to have an introverted building and a square or rectangular shape with a central courtyard and an east-west extension. According to the climate, sustainable patterns such as materials compatible with the environment, use of materials with bright colors and high thermal capacity, emptying of facades, use of winter and summer spaces, etc. have been used. Spaces such as porches, as semi-open spaces to prevent disturbing western light from entering the building, wind deflectors for natural ventilation, baxsements, whose coolness is used in the summer season in the design of winter spaces (lower height than to the summer space) are heated earlier according to the direction of the space. The research is of applied type and it was done with descxriptive-analytical research method, comparative perspective. The results of the research show that the use of things such as the proper orientation of the building and the courtyard, the placement of a part of the building in the soil, the appropriate design of the openings especially in the south, the use of several (central) courtyards due to the provision of adequate ventilation and lighting of the spaces, the use of materials compatible with the climate, paying attention to shading, using the porch as a semi-open space and controlling the entry of disturbing light into the spaces, using functional decorations (porcelain knots on the facade), suitable design of central courtyards, especially vegetation and water In order to create air humidity, the use of trees for wind control and shading, etc., is effective in the design of ecotourism accommodations.
