Abstarct: The design of educational spaces—encompassing elements such as form, color, green spaces, and others—can either enhance or diminish the desire to learn. However, many schools lack design standards and are constructed in monotonous, soulless configurations. This study aims to address a fundamental question: Is there a relationship between a sense of place attachment, influenced by the physical elements of educational spaces, and student creativity? The present research investigates the correlation between the physical factors of educational environments and sense of belonging to place among students at Farzanegan High School for Gifted Girls in Shahrud County.
This research examines the relationship between the physical factors of the educational environment and the impact of a sense of place attachment on creativity in the Farzanegan gifted girls' high school. The study began by collecting criteria for the physical factors of school attachment, and a questionnaire was designed, which was used after being approved by specialists and validated. The obtained alpha of 0.936 in a preliminary sample indicates excellent internal reliability of the researcher-made questionnaire. In the next stage, two questionnaires on creativity and the physical factors of school attachment were distributed among 130 students, and the data were analyzed using SPSS and SmartPLS software.
The results indicate the impact of the physical factors of school attachment on creativity with a coefficient of 0.447 (44.7%), reflecting a positive relationship between these two variables. Additionally, the results of the variance analysis confirm a significant relationship between the physical factors of attachment and creativity (Sig<0.05). Various factors such as desirable visibility (100%), satisfaction with accessibility and complexity of space design (92.6%), and the attractiveness of materials with the efficiency of openings (88.9%) have the highest impact on the sense of belonging compared to other factors. Creativity, as a dependent variable, is influenced by the sense of belonging with a coefficient of 0.158. Innovation (100%), expansion (80.8%), and flexibility (73.7%) have the greatest impact on creativity compared to fluidity.
baxsed on this, the research examines the impact of physical factors and a sense of place attachment on the creativity of female students at Farzanegan gifted high school. Additionally, the findings indicate that appropriate design of the educational space, considering physical and visual characteristics such as light, color, and layout, can enhance the sense of belonging to the school and, consequently, creativity. It is essential that, in light of this relationship, programs for improving the design of educational spaces are prioritized to strengthen students' learning and creativity.
