NA108 : Investigating the potential of Taleghani Street in Bojnord with the aim of increasing pedestrian capacity and developing urban pedestrian routes

Abstarct: The present study was conducted with the aim of identifying and analyzing the potential of Taleghani Street in Bojnourd to increase pedestrian capacity and develop urban pedestrian routes. This research examines the factors that can influence the pedestrianization of this street and identifies the relationship between these factors and its social and spatial consequences at the urban level. The research questions revolve around identifying causal, pivotal, contextual, interventional, and strategic factors affecting the pedestrianization of Taleghani Street and its consequences for the development of pedestrian networks and improving urban space design. To answer these questions, qualitative and quantitative research methods were used. In the qualitative part, primary data were collected using content analysis and in-depth interview methods with urban experts, urban officials, and university professors. In the quantitative section, MAXQDA, PLS, and SPSS software were used to analyze the data. The results showed that the existence of appropriate infrastructure, recreational facilities, and safety are key factors in making Taleghani Street pedestrian-friendly. Also, pedestrianizing this street can expand pedestrian networks at the urban level and have positive effects on citizens' social behavior, including increasing social interactions and satisfaction with public space. This research shows that appropriate strategic design for pedestrianizing streets can help improve the quality of urban life and promote social interactions.
