Abstarct: The aim of this research is to evaluate the effect of brick shading (porous brick wall) in the two skins of apartments on thermal performance. This research was conducted especially in short-term residential apartments in Tehran and was conducted in the form of a study using quantitative methods and was taken from Design Builder software to simulate thermal comfort conditions and evaluate brick shading. The simulated building is located on a residential plot in District 22 of Tehran and is considered as a pilot example. For the design of its porous brick double skin, porous brick facades implemented in recent years and some brickwork patterns found in historical Iranian brick architecture examples were used. The simulation results show that the proposed design number one, which has a more appropriate behavior than the baxse case, shows a 7.9% reduction in cooling load assuming the internal shutters are closed in the hot season, and on the other hand, this design shows a 13.4% increase in heating load assuming the internal shutters are open. These findings can be used as a solution for designing double-skin facades to optimize thermal comfort conditions in low-rise residential buildings in Tehran.
