HA88 : The effect of innovation and labor productivity on labor wages in Iranian high-tech industries, (1374-1390)

Abstarct: The main objective of this study is to find the effect of innovation and labor productivity on labor wage in high-tech industries in Iran. For this purpose, the data of the firm with 10 employees and more in 10 Iranian high-tech industries according to 4-digit International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC), during the years 1374 to 1390 was evaluated by dynamic panel data and system GMM and software STATA12. In this research, in addition to the R&D expenditure and Labor Productivity factors, the effect of other variables on labor wage in industry, including individual characteristics of labor such as level of university education, skills and gender of the labor and private ownership of firms are also considered. The results explains that so Men than women, college educated and also skilled labors to unskilled receive higher wages in sector of Iranian High-tech Industries. as well as private of firms that make up the large part of firms this industry, pay lower wages to its labors than public sector. But R & D expenditure index, that is a measure of innovation in industry, have an insignificant and negative effect on wage levels in Iranian High-tech Industries. This result may be comes back the nature of expenditure as of research and development expenditure is proposed in Iranian industries. The reason of this negative effect can be explained by small share of R&D expenditure in sector of Iranian industries. The results show that changes in labor skills will have a significant and indirect effect with innovation ratio to wages. as well as changes in education level have a significant and direct effect with innovation ratio to wages. Labor productivity has a direct relation on the level of wages but insignificant. The results show that changes in the labor productivity have a direct and significant impact with innovation ratio to wage.
