Abstarct: Todays, organizations have recognized that IT must be used as an effective means for having a competitive advantage and earning profits. Investing in IT alone, could not guarantee gaining a competitive advantage for organizations. Organization's IT policies must be aligned continuously with strategic business plans, so that IT could support strategic business plans in order to gain a competitive advantage. COBIT5 frxamework is a standard means to align IT policies and strategic business plans through implementing determined methods in governance and management level of a business which direct IT policies toward business goals. In this research COBIT5 frxamework effectiveness on Strategic Alignment Maturity Model's criteria is investigated. In first part, the support level of COBIT5 processes to Strategic Alignment Maturity Model's criteria is considered baxsed on expert views. And in second part, the effectiveness of governing perspective and managerial perspective of a business on Strategic Alignment Maturity Model's criteria is studied, baxsed on analysis of information which collected from governing body, top management, middle management and IT department staff of Semnan Regional Electric Company by responding to questionnaires.
