Abstarct: Iran is one of the energy resource rich countries in the world, and a developing country has a low level of energy efficiency. Energy consumption and its effects, such as emissions of environmental pollutants, have become a concern and an important issue among economists, policymakers and environmental researchers. One of the ways to reduce energy consumption is known the increase efficiency. Improving energy efficiency reduces the cost of energy services and in some cases increases disposable income. This increases the consumption of goods and services that require more energy to produce, distribute and consume. This effect is known as indirect rebound effect in the literature. Beyond the increasing of global energy consumption, there is a variety of the use of other natural resources also due to a similar mechanism. This effect, that known as direct and indirect cross rebound effect, usually not considered by universities and policymakers when designing and implementing energy policies. This research conceptualizes this effect, describes the methodology for its estimation and also provides economic estimates for Iran. In order to estimates in this research, the Input-Output model has been used.
