Abstarct: When constructing athletic facilities, one should devote considerable attention to the place they select for such purposes. This study attempted to aim at locating the right places for constructing sports centers in the county of Garmsar through using AHP in GIS environment. Using archival records, published and unpublished documents, and conducting field study, researchers obtained the descxriptive data comprising all 36 run-state or private athletic facilities and also and in terms of geospatial data, researchers utilized GPS to gather vital information. Among the scrutinized criteria, the proximity of the sport centers to the residential areas with the highest value of 25 percent and the distance of the center from unsuitably-built non-sport facilities with the lowest value of 0.2 percent have been defined as the most and least significant values respectively. In GIS, through combining different laxyers and altering spatial weight matrixes, a number of maps have been drawn. Such maps display the information regarding available vacant spaces, mark boundaries and areas being suitable for establishing athletic centers in Garmsar County. As was expected, the already established sport centers were irregularly distributed in the county. Indeed, a number of directors of organizations and offices established sport centers in the vicinity of their workplaces for their own continence, therefore, such sport centers have not been built according to the defined criteria. In accordance with the marked boundaries and areas of Gamsar, this county has been divided into two northern and southern districts and eight regions. Four sites and five sites have been identified as the suitable places for constructing sport centers in the northern and southern districts correspondingly. The marked boundaries and areas on the map, characterizes Garmsar into five regions, including highly suitable, suitable, partly suitable, unsuitable, and highly unsuitable for building sport facilities. baxsed on the map, the outskirt of the county is regarded as the unsuitable and highly unsuitable areas for building these centers, whereas the central regions of Garmsar are considered as highly suitable, partly suitable, and suitable sites for establishing sport facilities. Thus, by prioritizing these sites from highly suitable to highly unsuitable sites, officials can make eight sport centers in these areas. Therefore, if an organization in the city of Garmsar has the plan of building a sport facility either domed or conventional, it is highly recommended to take the current research findings into consideration when it comes to selecting a proper location.
