Abstarct: Aim and Background: One of the long-term effects of intense exercise is oxidative stress caused by the imbalance of oxidants (oxidative stress). Some plants have antioxidant properties that can cope with oxidative stress induced by exercise. This study investigated the effects of two types of herbal (coffee and Silybum marianum) with two different doses on antioxidant system in rat plasma. Methods: The study was performed on male Wistar rats in five groups including herbal tea and contrl group. Four groups of rats used herbal tea(coffee and Silybum marianum) with two different doses (were 0.5 and 0/8). All the groups did 6 weeks of endurance training and also received herbal tea , then after 6 weeks antioxidant enzymes in their blood serum were measured. Findings: Imbalance in antioxidant enzymes leads to oxidative stress. Drinking herbal tea of coffee in dose of 0/8 mg/kg (p=0/001), and drinking herbal tea of silymarin in dose of 0/8 mg/kg (p=0/002) lead to increase catalase enzyme significantly. As well, Drinking herbal tea of coffee in dose of 0/8 mg/kg (p=0/003) and in dose of 0/5 mg/kg (p=0/013), and drinking herbal tea of silymarin in dose of 0/8 mg/kg (p=0/014) lead to increase glutathione significantly. And as well as two others, Drinking herbal tea of coffee in dose of 0/8 mg/kg (p=0/01), and drinking herbal tea of silymarin in dose of 0/8 mg/kg (p=0/002) an in dose of 0/5 mg/kg (p=0/048) too, lead to decrease Malondialdehyde significantly. Conclusion: According to studies, it has proved to be particularly that after intense exercise, the body oxidants increases. To eliminate the effect of oxidants and prevention of harmful effects caused by oxidative stress, antioxidant-containing herbal tea can be used immediately after exercise. Among these herbal tea, can be named Silybum marianum and coffee in high doses that in this research was conducted.
