Abstarct: The objective of this research was to investigate the impact of leadership style on the athletic identity and commitment of football plaxyers in Iraq. The research method was descxriptive-correlational and cross-sectional in nature. The statistical population comprised all football plaxyers in Iraq, from whom a sample of 376 individuals was selected using a random-cluster sampling method. The research instruments included three standardized questionnaires: the 5-item Servant Leadership Questionnaire by Ehart (2004), the 7-item Athletic Identity Questionnaire by Lachbaum et al. (2022), and the 5-item Sport Commitment Questionnaire by Wilson et al. (2000). Content and face validity were assessed baxsed on the opinions of ten experts and sports management professors, and the reliability of the instruments was confirmed using Cronbach’s Alpha. To test the hypotheses, Variance-baxsed Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 23 and Smart-PLS 4 software. The findings indicated that Servant Leadership has a significant effect on the Athletic Identity and Sport Commitment of Iraqi football plaxyers. Furthermore, Athletic Identity showed a direct and significant impact on Sport Commitment. The mediating role of Athletic Identity in the relationship between Servant Leadership and team commitment was also confirmed. Servant leadership, by focusing on plaxyers’ needs, directly establishes strong foundations for athletic identity in Iraqi football. This robust identity, in turn, acts as a powerful internal motivator, significantly enhancing plaxyers’ sport commitment. The key finding confirms that leadership improvement increases commitment not only through direct channels but fundamentally by strengthening collective cohesion and team identity through mediation. Therefore, the future sustainability and success of Iraqi football depend on investing in cultivating leaders who prioritize a servant approach so that team identity functions as the primary guarantor of lasting commitment.
