Abstarct: The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of the team motivational climate on athletes’ passion for sport and perceived competence. This research was applied in terms of purpose and descxriptive–correlational in nature. The statistical population consisted of adolescent student athletes in Salah al Din province, Iraq, from which 220 participants were selected using a convenience sampling method. Data were collected using standardized questionnaires including the Team Motivational Climate Questionnaire developed by smithe et al (2008) with 12 items measuring two dimensions (task involving climate and ego involving climate), the Passion for Sport Scale by Vallerand et al. (2008) with 6 items, and the Perceived Competence Scale by McAuley et al. (1991) with 3 items. The reliability of the instruments was confirmed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, and the data were analyzed using descxriptive and inferential statistical methods. The results indicated that the team motivational climate had a significant and direct effect on both passion for sport and perceived competence. The findings suggest that creating a task involving and supportive motivational climate in sport environments, by strengthening students’ sense of ability and competence, plays a key role in enhancing their sustained passion for sport. Therefore, it is recommended that coaches and sport administrators emphasize cooperation, individual improvement, and social support in order to create a positive psychological environment for adolescent athletes.
