Abstarct: Academic coaching is an emerging and rapidly expanding approach in higher education, aimed at providing comprehensive support to students and promoting their personal and professional growth. The present study was conducted to design an academic coaching model for physical education students. This research employed an exploratory mixed-methods design. In the qualitative phase, a mexta-synthesis was first used to identify the outcomes of academic coaching for students. The study population for this phase included all articles and theses published in selected databaxses that met the inclusion criteria, and ultimately, 30 studies were analyzed. The findings categorized coaching outcomes into seven main themes. In the second qualitative step, to examine the dimensions of delivering and implementing academic coaching in physical education universities, reflective thematic analysis and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 13 professional coaches active in Iran. The results of this phase organized the dimensions of academic coaching into three categories: outcomes, barriers and challenges, and strategies. In the quantitative phase, to validate the extracted model, questionnaire items were developed baxsed on the qualitative findings. The study population in this phase consisted of physical education and sport science students from universities in Educational Region 9 of Iran, with 188 participants selected for exploratory factor analysis and 200 for confirmatory factor analysis using cluster sampling. The factor analyses confirmed a five-dimensional structure of academic coaching outcomes, and fit indices indicated a good alignment of the proposed model with empirical data. The integration of qualitative and quantitative findings showed that academic coaching in physical education can serve as a localized and systematic frxamework for academic and professional support, provided that the necessary structural and cultural contexts are established in universities. Accordingly, the proposed model represents a step toward the localization and operationalization of academic coaching in higher education in Iran.
