Abstarct: The present study aimed to examine the effect of person–job fit on psychological empowerment of physical education teachers with the mediating role of person–organization fit. The research was descxriptive-correlational in nature and cross-sectional in terms of time. The statistical population included all physical education teachers in Anbar province, and 172 teachers were selected as a sample using convenience sampling. The research instruments consisted of three standardized questionnaires: a 4-item Person–Job Fit Questionnaire (Cable & DeRue, 2002), a 3-item Person–Organization Fit Questionnaire (Kyle & DeRue, 2002), and a 1-item Psychological Empowerment Questionnaire (Spreitzer, 1995).To assess content and face validity, the tools were reviewed by ten experts and professors of sport management, and the reliability of the instruments was confirmed using Cronbach’s alpha. To test the hypotheses, variance-baxsed structural equation modeling was employed, and data analysis was conducted using SPSS 23 and SmartPLS 4. The results indicated that person–job fit had a direct and significant effect on both person–organization fit and psychological empowerment of physical education teachers in Anbar province. Moreover, person–organization fit had a direct and significant effect on psychological empowerment. The mediating role of person–organization fit in the relationship between person–job fit and psychological empowerment was also confirmed. These findings highlight the importance of job and organizational alignment as key factors in enhancing teachers’ psychological empowerment. The study demonstrates that attention to individual characteristics and their alignment with job and organizational requirements can improve effectiveness and work motivation of physical education teachers. In addition to its theoretical contribution to the development of person–job and person–organization fit models, this study provides practical implications for human resource management and educational planning in schools and sports settings.
