Abstarct: The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of work ethics on organizational entrepreneurship among employees of sports departments in Iraq, with work commitment serving as a mediating variable. The research employed a descxriptive–correlational design, was applied in nature, cross-sectional in terms of timing, and conducted in the field using three questionnaires: the Work Ethics Questionnaire by Meryak et al. (2013), the Work Commitment Questionnaire by Allen and Meyer (1991), and the Organizational Entrepreneurship Questionnaire by Quinn and Slevin (1986). The content validity of the questionnaires was evaluated and confirmed by ten expert professors. Since the questionnaires were baxsed on Likert scales, their reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, with all variables showing values above 0.70, indicating acceptable reliability. The statistical population consisted of all employees of sports organizations in Iraq, from which 321 individuals were selected as the research sample using Klein’s (2000) sample size determination method and convenience sampling. Data were analyzed using SmartPLS 3 software and the structural equation modeling (SEM) approach. Path analysis results indicated that work ethics had a direct and positive effect on organizational entrepreneurship (β = 0.289, t = 3.514, p < 0.001) and on work commitment (β = 0.590, t = 13.537). Additionally, work commitment had a direct effect on organizational entrepreneurship (β = 0.549, t = 7.843), and its mediating role in the indirect relationship between work ethics and organizational entrepreneurship was confirmed (β = 0.324, t = 7.125). baxsed on these findings, to enhance the level of entrepreneurship and innovation in Iraqi sports departments, managers and decision-makers should not only strengthen employees’ ethical behaviors but also focus on developing work commitment and creating a motivating organizational environment.
