Abstarct: Background and Objective: Despite challenges such as gender bias and lack of resources, women's sports are becoming one of the most powerful tools for changing social attitudes and creating an equal space in society. In Iran, where the dominant culture still places restrictions on many women, sports have become a battleground, a battle to break traditional institutions and prove women's abilities in an arena that men often dominate. In this way, female athletes are not only making history but also constantly shifting social and cultural boundaries, so the present study aimed to present a model of the role of sports in women's identity.
Findings: The analysis of more than 500 primary codes in this study resulted in 50 codes that were ultimately focused on 8 principal theoretical codes, which were identified after integrating the data. A model of the role of sport in women's identity was subsequently developed. In the quantitative part, the causal relationships between the concepts were determined baxsed on their importance from the respondents' perspective, as represented in a network relationship map, and a pattern of their meaningful relationships was identified.
Conclusion: According to the data obtained from the study, these factors not only create challenges in the development of women's sports identity but also provide opportunities for change and improvement of conditions. Therefore, it can be concluded that sports play a key role in women's identity, and by removing obstacles and strengthening positive factors, they can help improve the status of women in sports and society.
