GV332 : The effect of organizational virtue on the performance of physical education teachers with the mediating role of social capital

Abstarct: The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of organizational virtue on the performance of physical education teachers with the mediating role of social capital. This research is applied in terms of its purpose, cross-sectional in terms of time, and classified as quantitative research. The statistical population of this study consisted of 146 physical education teachers in Mashhad during the 2023-2024 academic year. Using convenience sampling, all 146 individuals were selected as the sample. The research tools included three standardized questionnaires: Boyle et al.'s (2019) performance questionnaire, Cameron et al.'s (2004) organizational virtue questionnaire, and the school-baxsed social capital questionnaire by Belfi et al. (2015). The validity of these questionnaires was reviewed and confirmed by several experts and professors in sports management. To determine the reliability of the questionnaires, a pilot study was conducted among physical education teachers in Mashhad, and the Cronbach’s alpha results indicated acceptable reliability.To test the research hypotheses, structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed using SPSS version 25 and Smart PLS4 software for data analysis. The results revealed that organizational virtue positively affects teachers’ performance. Additionally, organizational virtue significantly enhances social capital, which, in turn, has a positive relationship with employees’ performance. Furthermore, the findings indicated that social capital acts as a critical factor and plays a mediating role, as increased positive interactions and trust in the workplace lead to improved teacher performance. Overall, fostering collaborative networks among teachers, administrators, and other educational staff can strengthen social relationships and teamwork. Moreover, through incentive programs and awards for teachers and students, ethical and organizational virtues can be promoted in schools.
