Abstarct: The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of yoga exercises in water and land on premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea and the quality of life of girls aged 15-18 years in Bojnoord city. The current research is a semi-experimental and applied research, a comparative research model.
Methods :For this research, out of 200 girls aged 15-18 who met the entry criteria, 45 were randomly selected and entered into the study and were divided into three groups of 15: active in water, active on land and control group. After completing the McGill pain questionnaire and the quality of life questionnaire, the experimental groups, i.e. the group active in water and the group active on land, performed their aerobic activity with an intensity equal to 55-75% of the maximum heart rate (HR max) three sessions a week for eight weeks. . In this research, it was found that the general measure of quality of life and reduction of dysmenorrhea in girls aged 15-18 years improved
Result: significantly after eight weeks of training both in the active group in water and in the active group on land (p≤0.05). It was also found that aquatic exercises had a significant effect (p≤0.05) on the sensory perception of pain, pain evaluation, various pains, and reduction of dysmenorrhea and improvement of quality of life compared to activities on land.
Therefore, it seems that the use of yoga exercises can be one of the available resources for girls with dysmenorrhea, so that they can benefit from pain-free menstruation and a better quality of life.
