Abstarct: Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of negative air ions on aerobic and anaerobic responses of active students. Method: This developmental study was randomly controlled with crossover design. The statistical sample of this study was active boys and girls with mean age (22.67 ± 0.61 years) and BMI (21.59 ± 0.44 kg/m2). In order to implement the crossover design, individuals were randomly divided into two ion and non ion conditions, each of which included 20 people including 10 girls and 10 boys. The subjects were placed in an isolation room at 100,000 ions per cubic meter for 1 hour. Then, The Wingate test was performed at 1 week intervals (for ion purging) in ion and non ion mode. Bruce's test was carried out in the same way. At the end, some of the indicators of aerobic and anaerobic performance of individuals such as maximum oxygen consumption, peak power, average power, minimum power and fatigue index were measured and recorded in ion and non ion exposure conditions. To analyze the data, Shapiro Wilco test was used to determine the nature of the data and the correlation T-test was used to determine the difference between the pre-test and post-test of parametric variables and Wilcoxon test for nonparametric variables.the Significant level was considered for all statistical analyzes (p <0.05). Results: The results showed that the maximum oxygen consumed after the intervention increased significantly but no significant difference was observed in other measured parameters. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, negative air ions have a greater effect on aerobic performance than anaerobic.
