Abstarct: Objective: the objective of the study was the impact of 8 weeks of exercise by resistance band with consuming the black granules supplement on the levels of anti-oxidant enzymes in the women having over weight.
Method: This research was a clinical trial and including pre-test and post-test. The statistical sample of this study were women with over weight, by average age of (34/461/1) and body mass index (BMI) of 29/482/35 Kg/m2 that were divided by random into 4 groups of 15 persons: 1. exercise by resistance band, 2. black granules supplement, 3. exercise by resistance band with consuming black granules supplement and 4. Control group. The blood samples were gathered before start of exercises and 48 hours after the end of exercises in the fasting condition. Group 1 performed the exercises by resistance band for 8 weeks including 6 one-hour sessions in a week (10 minuets warming, 40 minutes dedicated exercises and 10 minutes cooling). The group 2 daily consumed one capsule of 1000 mlg black granule supplement in one turn, 30 minutes before lunch for 8 weeks. The group 3 also performed the exercises by resistance band for 8 weeks including 6 one-hour sessions in a week (10 minutes warming, 40 minutes dedicated exercises and 10 minutes cooling), with daily consuming one capsule of 1000 mlg black granules supplements in one turn, 30 minutes before lunch. The blood sample was taken before and after the practical protocol. Dependent t-test was used to evaluate the intra-group difference, ANOVA test to evaluate the inter-group difference and Bonferroni’s follow up test was used to identify the groups that produced a difference in the ANOVA test. The significance level of P>.05 was used.
Findings: findings in the intra-group comparison showed that the level of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the group 1 (p=.039), 2 (p=.040) and 3 (p=.033), the level of serum glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) in the group 3 (p=.029), the abdominal muscle endurance in group 3 (p=.002) have increased significantly after intervention. Also a significant reduction in the rate of body fat compared to the intra-group comparison was observed after intervention in the group 3 (p=.014) and a significant reduction of BMI index in the group 3 (p=.036) was observed.
Conclusion: in view of the results of the study it seems that using resistance band with consuming black granules supplement is a more suitable stimulus to confront with the free radicals in the women having over weight.
