Abstarct: Ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) are promising candidates for use as hot sections of gas turbine engines owing to their superior high-temperature mechanical properties, excellent oxidation/thermal shock resistances and high chemical compatibility. A protective silica laxyer can form on the surface of these materials by reacting with oxygen at high temperatures. However, in combustion environments, the silica laxyer on the surface reacts with water vapor and causes corrosion and weight loss. As a result of this reaction environmental sustainability of ceramic decreases. To solve this problem, an environmental barrier coating (EBC) is suggested to protect the CMC. CMC protection against recession caused by water vapor and hot corrosion is essential that achieved using EBC coating. This type of coating is composed of multi-protective laxyer, each of which is responsible for a special task. In this study, two laxyer environmental barrier coating (EBC) applied on SiC/Cf substrate. Initially, according to the available facilities in Iran, a sample of SiC/Cf was made using the SPS method, and then the required powders for different coating laxyers was synthesized by the researcher. Finally, the coating was applied by the APS technique. The results of the synthesized powders used in coating were presented. The microstructure of the two-laxyer coating was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction. Some mechanical properties of the coating, including hardness and Young's modulus, were investigated. By applying CMAS as a corrosive agent, rate of corrosion at 1300 ˚C was investigated for different times. The values of hardness are found to be 22.9 and 5.6 GPa for first and second laxyer of coating, respectively.
