TN582 : Optimization of final pit limit and production schedule in open pit mining using imperialist competitive algorithm

Abstarct: Since the beginning of modern mining activities by mankind, attention to economic parameters of mining to raise the productivity and profitability of this economic activity was was necessary. Reduce the cost of extracting and increase the volume of extraction within the specified time is the best way to increase profits in this field. Because of this, planning for production at a mine seem necessary. While controling the geology, economic and technical factor is possible, but to develop a method for control and optimize pit limit and production schedule is impossible. In this study, we tried to use a new Algorithm named Imperialist Competitive Algorithm, to optimize the pit and planning production. Imperialist competitive algorithm is an algorithms inspired from Cycle of socio-political development of human society is to solve optimization problems. The advantage of this algorithm is easy to understand and achieve optimal response is fast. Use this method to optimized production planning and final pit limit, which facilitates the production of a computer program and make changes in basic parameters will also be needed. Compared with other algorithms, this method also has problems with variables is more convergence speed. To optimize these two issues with the Imperialist competitive algorithm, in this study the economic block model was used as input. The number of entries as the initial parameters of the problem of the economic block model selection and optimization operations on them by Imperialist competitive algorithm is applied. Finally, the answers obtained from the imperialist competitive algorithm to optimize the planning of production and final pit limit answers to problems.
