Abstarct: Geochemical studies accompany with geological data, remote sensing and geophysics is considered as basis data for identification of the areas with geothermal potential. In this study, lithogeochemical data in East Azerbaijan Province has been applied to identify the geochemical indicators related to the areas of geothermal potential. Due to the fact that in parts of the study Province, there is no access to the full geochemical data, this research has focused on the Southern part of East Azerbaijan Province, including Bostanabad, Hashtrood , Qara Chaman and Takhte Soliman for which complete lithogeochemical data is available. There is also young volcanic activities such as Sahand and sabalan, hot springs and altered areas in the selected region. Single-variant and multi-variant analysis on lithogeochemical data were performed to identify controlling variables. The results of single variant have indicated that the elements such as Ag, As, Ba, Bi, Ce, Cr, Pb, Te, Hg, Ni, W, Th, S, Cd, As, Zn have been specified as the important elements. To determine the relationship between the elements, correlation coefficients(Kendall, Spearman, Pearson)have been calculated and the elements of Hg, Cs, Cd, Bi, As, Ag, Na, Pb, S, Sb, Te, Th, Tl, Zr were selected. baxsed on cluster analysis as multi-variant analysis, the elements Cs, Hg, Ag, Sb, As, Ba, S, Ca, Sr, Ni, Mg, Sc, Li and according to the factor analysis the elements As, Bi, Cd, Cs, Hg, S, Sb can be suggested as significant components. As conclusions of the analyses the elements of As, S, Sb have been introduced as geochemical indicator. Some samples were collected from the soil and altered rocks around the hot springs and were analyzed by ICP-OES method for 42 elements. The results of these samples, have showed high concentrations for Ca, Fe, Al, Sb, S, As and the concentrations of Sb, S, were abnormally high in the study area. Therefore, elements of Sb, S, As are modeled by probability plot to identify anomaly values and areas. The geochemical distribution maps of elements accompany to geological data(young volcanic), hot springs ,geological alterations, major faults and mine related to geothermal were used to separate high potential areas for geothermal investigation. Charoymaq area was introduced baxsed on geological, hydrogeochemical, lithogeochemical and geophysical as high rank area for geothermal investigation.
