Abstarct: The tailing product of Bayer's bauxite extraction process is red mud, whose main mineral is hematite. The content of hematite of red mad in Jajarm aluminum complex is 25%. the accumulated amount of red mud in Jajarm over years is estimated to be more than 10 million tons. Therefore, in this research, the separation of hematite from red mud was investigated by magnetic and flotation methods. At first, high-intensity magnetic tests and Davis tubes were performed for the possibility of hematite separation, which resulted in the production of a concentrate with a grade of 35.36% and a recovery of 62.77%. Then, direct and reverse flotation methods were performed. In the direct flotation method, oleic acid collector and sodium oleate were used for hematite flotation and the concentration was 31.59% and 31.53% respectively, and the recovery was 33.1% and 41.02% respectively at pH= 6. and also a concentrate with a grade of 29.9% and 37.3% respectively 29% and a recovery of 38.36% and 41.26% respectively, were obtained at pH=7. In the reverse flotation method using starch as an iron depressant, the concentrate was obtained with a grade of 30.16% and a recovery of 59.13%. Due to the fact that the size of red mud particles are below 10 microns and due to the inappropriate performance of fine particles in flotation, the methods of using solutions containing nanobubbles and flocculation were used. The results of these tests showed that the recovery rate improved by 10% by using fine processing flotation methods
