Abstarct: Identifying and determining the depth and location of mineralization is one of the most important goals of exploration work that can be achieved by using different geophysical methods. The geoelectric method, which includes IP and resistivity, is one of the best methods for detecting sulfide mineralization. Qanun exploration area in the southwest of Rafsanjan city has shown evidence of sulfide copper mineralization on the surface. The area is structurally located in the magmatic zone of Urmia Dokhtar and the host rocks of mineralization are Eocene pyroclastic volcanic rocks with a combination of andesite to andesite basalt, trachy basalt and tuff. Mineralization is observed sporadically within the cavities and veinlet in the host rock and includes the minerals chalcosite, malachite and pure copper.
According to initial geological studies and study of mineralization areas in the region, with the aim of discovering the deep and lateral areas of anomalies, IP and resistivity data acquisition were designed in the form of 10 profiles with dipole-dipole array and electrode distances of 20 and 40 meters. after acquisition, the data were processed by two-dimensional (2D) smooth inversion by RES2DINV software and finally modeling was performed. Then the results of modeling were interpreted using geological surface outcrop information. Studies show that anomalies areas with high chargeability and medium to high resistivity values have been consistent with mineralization. According to geophysical and geological studies, 4 points were proposed for drilling and determination of mineralization depth.
