Abstarct: A bio-electrode is a device that communicates between the body and a measuring device and sends a biological signal from the body to the measuring device. Therefore, it can have various applications such as diagnosing diseases. There are different electrodes for recording biological signals. In general, electrodes can be divided into wet electrodes and dry electrodes. Wet electrodes are disposable silver/ silver chloride (Ag/ AgCl) electrodes which are used to record biological signals such as electrocardiogram (ECG) and electromyogram (EMG). This electrode requires a conductive gel in order to minimize the impedance between the skin and the electrode. This conductive gel dries out after a short time which reduces the quality of the signal received from the body. In long-term measurements, this electrode also causes discomfort and sensitivity in users due to the use of gel. These problems have led to the need for other types of electrodes for long-term uses. In this study, we presented a dry conductive composite electrode that does not require a conductive gel, which causes less skin irritation and less sensitivity. This composite electrode is made using silicone-resistant polymer, which is a flexible, inexpensive and affordable polymer, and graphite and carbon black filler. After testing the impedance behavior of this electrode and comparing it with standard wet Ag/AgCl electrodes, it was observed that the results obtained from the composite electrode made in this study are almost equal standard wet Ag/AgCl electrodes. Conductivity was measured for graphite composite electrode which was 67.8 ohm and 392 ohm for carbon black composite electrode. Other advantages of our proposed electrode fabrication technology include the use of the electrode in long-term, non-disposable testing. This technology and method of making electrodes has a almost inexpensive platform for making flexible dry electrodes.
