Abstarct: One of the methods for detecting edges and corners in different image processing algorithm, is use of Phase Congruency features of image. The results of this method is so desirable and independent of image contrast comparing with older methods. In phase congruency model, instead of considering points with maximum gradient as features, the points with maximum local energy, are considered as features in parts that fourier components are more in phase. Computational nature of phase congruency algorithm, when real-time performance is intended, needs high computational power, when real-time performance is intended, which microprocessors are not able to do that simply. If the operation can be done in parallel, one can overcome this problem. In this thesis the phase congruency algorithm is implemented on software and then for one dimension on FPGA by using System Generator. The fixed-point numbers are used and mathematical relations are first converted to shapes applicable to FPGAs and then used. Achieved results are so closed and comparable with results of MATLAB software.
