Abstarct: Abstract In today's age, the use of tunnels is very widespread, including road, urban and mining tunnels. One of the dangers of tunnels is an explosion that can occur in the closed space of the tunnel for many reasons and lead to many deaths and financial and non-financial damages. to be As a result, it is necessary to weaken the shock waves caused by the explosion. For this purpose, the current study focuses on reducing the shock wave using zigzag structures. The purpose of this strategy is to produce reflections and refraction of the shock wave by taking advantage of the minimum obstruction along the tunnel as opposed to the barrier approach. In this research, the amount of attenuation of the shock wave from the center of a tunnel with a zigzag wall with 16 different zigzag modes and also a non-zigzag mode has been investigated. Numerical methods can predict the behavior of materials with appropriate accuracy and away from the limitations of experimental tests. From the numerical simulations, it can be seen that among the various designs of the zigzag structure, the maximum attenuation of the shock wave will be 79.76% at a distance of 19.5 meters from the explosion by the zigzag structure with the height and baxse of the triangle equal to 1 meter. In this zigzag design, the initial shock wave undergoes reflection and refraction, which alternately reflects from one side to the other. This rotating and repetitive shock wave reflection helps to spread the shock wave energy without any blockage in the tunnel. And a comparison of different types of tunnel cross-sections (rectangular, circular, horseshoe and D-shaped sections) was made that the tunnel with a rectangular cross-section is more weakened than other sections, and also a comparison of zigzag cross-sections (prismatic, T-shaped and rectangular sections) and sugar, triangular, and mushroom heads) that the triangular section has a better attenuation compared to the other sections
